And The Winner Is...

Following last year's highly successful competition, 12 12 Gallery's second National Juried Photography Exhibition opened in Richmond, Virginia on September 28th, 2007. 154 photographers from across the country and 1 from as faraway as New Zealand submitted 758 images to compete for up to $1000.00 in cash prizes. Juror Brian Paul Clamp, Director of CLAMPART, a gallery in New York City's Chelsea District that specializes in Modern and Contemporary painting and photography, selected 53 images from 43 artists to create a diverse and interesting exhibition.

Awards were announced at an open artist's reception held the afternoon of  Sunday , September 30th,  2007. Family and friends of Larry Chait, who was awarded first place for his colorful and thought-provoking "Sun0411334" and Steven Strawn, whose humorous and well-executed "Gut Shot" placed third, joined the festivities. Also in attendance were Richmond photographers Jinging Gong, Janneke Kotte, and Jane Vaught along with many of 12 12 gallery patrons and photography enthusiasts.
